Paula Deen had the recipe a few years back. I also take leftover chocolate cake or brownies and whip up a quick one with some homemade chocolate pudding and fresh whipped cream. Hmmmm...I do believe there are some brownies left over from the Farmer's Market out in the freezer... :) Candy C.https://www.blogger.com/profile/07863818451136277378noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7588065594023489285.post-86314577828462596102013-04-15T01:21:58.694-04:002013-04-15T01:21:58.694-04:00I have never had a trifle or trifled with anything...I have never had a trifle or trifled with anything or anyone....REALLY!!!Rose Lhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07180873324576064516noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7588065594023489285.post-13945720050982823922013-04-14T22:34:49.107-04:002013-04-14T22:34:49.107-04:00Yummy!!!!!! I think you may be confusing two of my favorite sweets - truffles which are small balls of chocolate & cream and trifle which is layered pudding or custard, whipped cream & cake chunks or even brownies. I made a pumpkin trifle at Thanksgiving. It had chunks of gingerbread layered with pumpkin custard. At Christmas I made eggnog trifle with eggnog pudding and yellow cake. Sometimes I throw in a layer of diced up candy bars, nuts or coconut. I actually think trifles are so easy & fun to make that I started collecting recipes several years ago and have been thinking about starting a blog for trifle lovers and to introduce trifle to those who do have never experienced this heavenly creation. <br />I love trifles because you can bale a cake mix, a couple of boxes of instant pudding & cool whip (I use real homemade ingredients for special occasions). layer it all in the morning & by dinner time you have a wonder indulgent gooey mess to devour. I finally Found a reasonable priced trifle bowl at Home Goods & now I just love that I can see all the pretty layers through the glass. I believe that trifle originated in England. The original is usually pound cake, pastry cream, raspberry jam and fresh raspberries. If calories did not exist, I could exist happily on both trifles &truffles. Now that you have given me the inspiration I needed I think I will go buy some fresh strawberries, make a pound cake and tomorrow night after dinner will surprise my family with the first trifle of Spring.
