Snow Insanity

3 major snowstorms in 10 days.     People are getting a little slap happy up here in Vermont.

Here are some "signs of the times..."

When Mother Nature gives you snow..... we build snowmen and DRESS THEM UP!!
(at the Ryegate winter festival)

An appropriate license plate.........

There is so much ice under all this snow, that many snowplows are getting stuck on top of snowpiles and can't get any traction to get out becasue of the thick ice under their tires.

Here is whay transpired in my own driveway.

Plow truck stuck on top of 5 foot snowbank while pushing snow out of driveway.

Plow driver digging out, to no avail.

I phoned my neighbor and he came down, got stuck on ice, turned his truck around and gave one big pull to get plow truck out.  A third truck was waiting near me by the street, if we needed more horsepower.   Never a dull moment!

How are you spending your snow days ?

  1. We've been spending our snow days...opening the driveway for the milk truck...watering heifers with a hose and buckets...and now watching the "big thaw". Here comes the mud!

  2. Our plow truck blew its hydraulic clutch 2 storms back. This means taking the engine out to fix it. Fortunately, the last 2 storms have only netted us 4". DH will use the tractor to move this today.

The layer flock has not been outside for a week or more, due to snow that won't come off the roof over their pen. If it came off, and they were out there, they'd be in instant freezer camp. So they've spent their time running across the barn aisle to explore the pig stall.

Me? I've spent my time getting lots of small projects done inside so I can start my tax stuff, which is today's project. And keeping the stoves going. That wind was brutal!

  3. Sewing, cleaning, reading, watching the news thankful that Northern Colorado does not have as much snow, nor do we have the ice. It has warmed up, so most of the snow has melted. And to think that my husband wants to move to Vermont when he wants peace and quiet.
