Fly Season

The horrible fly season has arrived with a bang and a buzz.

Its been dry and hot and the flys love it.     The cows and I do not.

Time to get the spray out.

What do you use to combat these pests on your livestock and horses ?

Chime in.

  1. We use a dusting bag filled with diatomaceous earth. We dust the loafing areas with DE frequently. And we dust them, if the flies get real bad. We use Basic H in the water they drink.

This in addition to daily rotational pastures and using chickens to a small degree to clean up pests the cows leave behind.

  2. My hubby just sprayed the barns yesterday...those flies are SO pesty! The cows just hate it...and it makes milking time quite interesting sometimes!
