What Are You Reading ?

My village librarian phoned me the other day to tell me she got a few new books in and would put them up on the shelf with my number on them.

How she remembers what I like to read and my library card number is beyond me, but sure enough I went down today and there were a bunch of books on the very top shelf with my number on them.

There was the brand new Robert Parker western, Ironhorse, Plus..... Up Trunket Road- the education of a modern homesteader.

Its always a thrill for me to see my "number" in a book and on the top shelf along with many others who have also been gifted with great reading material.

Sadly, Robert Parker died 3 years ago and there are other authors writing his novels.  It will be interesting to see how this one is.   I am totally addicted to Virgil Cole and Everett Hitch.

Trunket Road is not what I would usually be reading, but I trust my librarian as she has thrown a few unusual books my way and they were very enjoyable.

So, what are YOU reading these days?

  1. How very lucky you are to have librarian save back books for you. I haven't been able to bring myself to check out the new Robert Parker books. Afraid they won't be the same.

  4. I am reading a Netta Jackson Novel, got a lent study ready to start on Tuesday. Plus I have umpteen downloads on my ipad kindle , here I tend to get free or under £1 books by new authors .
Whilst I love paper , I adore my kindle because I am not cluttering up my shelves with books I will only read once.
I think the library is great but I am really funny about reading books handled by people I don't know , I know OCD

  6. I don't use a libary as I've got this weird thing about keeping the books I've read (tthis is why we have a house full of books! And I mean full!). Mind you if I had your librian then I might be more inclind to use it - she sounds amazing to pick books out for you.

  8. We loved Robert Parker's books. He is sorely missed.

DH is working his way through Robert Heinlein currently. He tends to start with a writer's first book and work his way through the series chronologically.

I'd ordered some Christmas books and they finally came in last week, along with the associated movie versions. They are the Christmas Hope series by Donna VanLiere. Just finished those. Now reading Hidden Places by Lynn Austin. I saw the movie first, but as usual like the book much more.

I have Temple Grandin's Animals in Translation to read next. I re-read Thinking in Pictures earlier, and could not remember much of Translation, so decided to re-read it.

The librarian at our library jokes we should have our own shelf because we order so many books and movies. :))

  9. I just finished reading The DIrty LIfe by Kristen Kimball, it's about her going from being a city based writer to a farmer. I really enjoyed it. What I really need to get reading is the book I just got on harness breaking horses, I've got a 2 year old pony that really needs a job, but is way to small for me to saddle break:)

  10. How cool! I love that you have your own shelf!

I'm reading a ton of different things on my kindle.

    Got one for Christmas.

Was prepared to hate it, but I'm really enjoying all the free books the library has to offer!

Plus, I like it that if I don't like the book after a few chapters, I can just return it without getting in my car!

    This was a fun post!

I'm going to check out a few of those titles.

    A+
