Vermont Hammer BARN

As you can see from this blog, I travel many rural back roads for my job and for my own simple pleasure.

I see all kinds of wonderful things.  One of my favorites are old barns...and weathervanes.

This particular barn has one of the most unusual weathervanes I have ever seen.

Click on the photo to see the larger detail.

I have always said that you can tell the character of the person who lives here simply by the condition of their barn.       Very true in this situation.

So my question to you is;

If you had your own barn, what kind of weathervane would you put on it  ?

Yes, you can have more than one weathervane.

Start your list!

I would have a cow, with a calf at her side, and a small reluctant cowdog sitting next to them.

  2. That is easy for me. When we get our barn painted we want to add some cupolas and I would have a sheep weathervane :)

  3. I have a weather vane on my garage. It is a German Shepherd and I might do the same if I was lucky enough to have a barn.

    I would want a rooster weathervane, I've just always liked them.

  5. Mine would definitely be a cat! I wonder if the owner of that barn with weather vane has a vocation as a builder or carpenter?? Or maybe his last name is Hammer??

  11. One thing I noticed when I moved out West was that people just didn't maintain their barns like the farmers I knew in PA. The Amish have such beautiful barns! Someday I want to go back and just take pictures of them all...

  12. Love the barn AND the weathervane! I don't know what I'd want on a weathervane - maybe something to put a smile on your face. Kind of like the hammer!

  13. I'd have a sailboat - or maybe a rooster - or, no, wait....I might want a dog. *sigh* I might need more than one barn.

  14. Wonderful photos♫ I've been trying to get a good shot at a local vane featuring a golfer, but the angle is not right (so far) My B: http://lauriekazmierczak.com/barn-it%E2%99%A5/
