I went to a wonderful get together last night and one of my favorite farmers gifted me with an emu egg.
I did the line up this morning:
Can you name those eggs?
Left to right
Chicken, duck, goose, EMU!!
I might put the emu egg in the hen's nest box to inspire them....
Did you know it takes an HOUR to hard boil an emu egg ?

ReplyDeleteYesterday we finally hit 100% Rate of Lay. All 17 laid an egg for the first time. Until now we'd had 3 hold outs, only getting 14 sometimes.
ReplyDeleteOne of the Cuckoo Marans has been laying big eggs from the very beginning. We got one a few days back that must have been 5 oz, as big as your duck egg. I thought it would be a triple yolk, but it was just a double.
Almost to pretty to eat ... almost!

Wow - that's one big egg! Such a pretty colour too. I think I'd be tempted to blow it out and keep the shell as a decoration. Hope you have a lovely new year and don't get too much more snow!
