My neighbors have some colorful cattle.
Scottish Highlands.
They enjoy cold weather.
Heavy snow, sleet, rain, ice, blizzards and Nor'easters do not faze them in the least.
Today, as the wind started blowing and the snow came down harder they just continued to eat their hay.
They are a calm group.
And curious.
Did you know that Vermont was once called New Scotland ?
Northern Vermont had a large population of Scottish settle many towns. Entire Scottish villages emigrated to Vermont because of its resemblance to Scotland.. Its no wonders these cattle do so well here.

ReplyDeleteWonder how the Pawlet PO is doing these days. While I am far away in OR now, I mis-spent some of my youth around southern VT.
They're beautiful! I wish I could weather the weather as well as they can!

They're beautiful animals. We got a lot of snow last night too. I guess spring isn't here yet after all.
ReplyDeleteThat is one furry, fluffy cow. So cute! I just think it is so amazing how creatures acclimate to their surroundings. Best wishes, Tammy
ReplyDeleteI love this -- the Cattle don't mind it...they stay calm. I could use this as a good reminder!
ReplyDeleteHow very interesting. It's amazing what animals can take when subjected to the elements.

I love the hairy coos! My friend and I visited Scotland a few years back and took tons of pictures of the Highland cattle and, of course, the sheep! :)
