Good Hands

Sadly, I just heard that Vidal Sassoon died today. In October of 1983 my friend Nancy Shepherd and I taught Vidal to milk a cow the night before the Topsfield Fair opened. This unusual sight took place in the barnyard arena after we brought the livestock in for the next days show. He was a good sport about it and picked up the milking technique quickly since he was very muscular in his hands and wrists from styling hair. By the end of our lesson he could milk into a bucket, a glass and a thimble. The next day he did extremely well in the milking contest and made us proud. The lucky cow was from Dunajski's Dairy. A celebrity in her own right and with her own distinct style. She enjoyed Vidal's gentle manner and English accent.
