Old Barn, New Paint

I love it when I drive by an old barn that was looking poorly a few months ago and now looks great.

It is amazing how a few basic repairs and a good paint job can greatly improve the appearance of a historical barn.

Some additional work is needed to fix a few other blemishes on the front.

The windows have been restored and cleaned.

The little milk room on the side of the barn would make a great chicken coop.

All the doors have been completely rebuilt and are working properly.

This old barn that was close to being torn down and its 250 year old timbers sold, is now looking younger and ready for business.

Have you painted your barn lately?

What is your favorite barn color?

  2. We don't paint our tobacco shed. When we bought it, it had beautifully aged boards. We took them off, re-sided, with battens, and left it natural. That was nearly 30 years ago.

The weathered boards all came into the house as trim and wainscoting. They were beautiful just as they were. We figured they were about 100 yrs old. So in another 70, there will be more beautiful boards, not that I will see them...

  3. I wish I had a barn but alas I only have a chicken coop, red, and a shed that my turkeys reside in also red. Yes my barn would be red with white trim.
